Bio/Writing History

I live in Portland, Oregon with my husband Jerry and our two teen-aged kids.

I grew up in Las Vegas and left there at the tender age of 21 for the bright lights of Hong Kong. I worked with a Christian humanitarian agency among Vietnamese refugees  and then later was employed by Asia Television (ATV) in the news department.

After my return to the U.S. in the mid nineties I turned my attention towards home and began a family.

Since having children I have worked at a variety of interesting jobs to help support our household including gift shop cashier, cookware sales associate, grocery clerk, census taker, daycare provider and paid focus group participant.  Eventually I began a small cleaning service which I still operate. It is nice to be self-employed!

When I turned  40 I finally figured out what I'd like to do now that I was
all grown up
- write!

          - I have been a contributing writer for Off the Map since 2005.

- I graduated from the Christian Writer's Guild two-year writing program in 2007.

- My print work includes articles for several publications including  The Oregonian, Oregon Coast

magazine, Christian News Northwest
,  and Hong Kong Parent Journal.

- I've been published many times online for such ezines as the Burnside Writers Collective,

Next-Wave, Doable Evangelism, New Wineskins, and Communitas Collective.

- I am a writer  for the Examiner covering Portland and beyond on issues of progressive Christian

 faith.

If my doctor told me I only had six minutes to live, I wouldn't brood. I'd type a little faster.
