typewriterI started writing with intention on the eve of my fortieth birthday.  I focused on writing about issues of faith, culture and progressive Christian spirituality for several years. My first blog was called, How God Messed Up My Religion. What a great learning experience that became for me as I found my voice in writing through blogging and writing for digital and print publications. I also wrote a book during this era of my writing life, a non-fiction title called Unladylike: Resisting the Injustice of Inequality in the Church.unladylike It was published by a small indy publisher and sold more than a thousand copies, a small but respectable response for an unproven author like me.

My focus as a writer has shifted from topics of Christian spirituality.  I am intrigued by many other interests such as creativity, personal growth, workplace identity and other life experiences. I tend to write from deep places in my attempt to be as honest and true to who I am on the internet as I am in real life. Many of my blog posts are memoiresque in voice.

I took a long break from blogging and writing as I delved heart-first into mixed-media collage art. I have had enjoyed some small successes. In my first art show I nearly sold out of my original pieces and I launched my Etsy store where I sell digital prints of my art. In just one month I made more money from art than I had in ten years from writing! I wondered if I had missed my calling?

Your own reasons to make art are reason enough. Create whatever causes a revolution in your heart. (Elizabeth Gilbert, Big Magic)

But no, I don’t think I did. I was a late bloomer as a writer, and an even later bloomer as an artist. It is not either/or.

I am both Writer And Artist.

So, for anyone who is curious about the things I wrote about in the past here is a LINK to a collection of some of my writings on Christian spirituality. And here is another LINK to a list of my past publishing credits of articles from both print and digital mediums.
